Never Alone

Will post a video of it if a good one can be found, but for now it's kind of past bedtime. :-)

Never Alone
By BarlowGirl

I waited for you today
But you didn't show
I needed you today
So where did you go?
You told me to call
You said you'd be there
And though I haven't seen you
Are you still there?

I cried out with no reply and
I can't feel you by my side so
I hold tight to what I know
You're here
And I'm never alone

I know I can not see you
And I can't explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You've placed in my life.
We cannot separate
You're part of me
And though you're invisible
I trust the unseen

On my bed at night I sought him
whom my heart loves-
I sought him but I did not find him.
I will rise then and go about the city;
in the streets and crossings I will seek
Him whom my heart loves.
I sought him but I did not find him.
The watchmen came upon me
as they made their rounds of the city:
Have you seen him whom my heart loves?
I had hardly left them
when I found him whom my heart loves.

Today's first reading from the Song of Songs.
I wonder why they have a different one on EWTN...?

The Song of Songs, by the way, was one of Saint Therese's favorites! :-)

Real Love

Ok, Mr. Jack, I'll post more on what we learned at the retreat! :-)
(Click here for video if you'd like)
Sorry, it didn't have an embed code...

Love isn't a mawkish thing, it is something deeper that takes hardships as they come. It works both ways and cannot be held back from anyone because it is unselfish. Love is a difficult virtue, but it is the greatest.

WYDH 2008

As it says in CT's blog, we attended a WYDH retreat at the Diocesan Center here! Haha, no computers so I've got some catching up to do...but it was well beyond worth it!! Youth from various parts of the diocese came by plane just to attend it; they had given up their weekend for something greater. Of course, it was tremendous fun too! :-)
Over the course of three days we had Stations of the Cross, we prayed all four mysteries of the Rosary, catechesis, all night Adoration, Confession, and Mass this morning. With the musicians leading the melody, there was never a dull moment.
Since many of us here cannot afford to travel to Australia, we were very blessed to have this opportunity.

(whoops, dinner time...)
My favorite part of the activities shown on EWTN was the Stations of the Cross.
...and I hope the link works.

titles...

Should I change this blog’s title? If you look in the archives, this blog has not really followed the title, nor has there been any point in it. (well, maybe a point was to make people laugh…but still.)

Therese’s Roses was a group for young girls based on Saint Therese’s little way. That was a couple years back now, and the title doesn’t seem to fit. Nothing much will change with the title except perhaps more refined goals for the posts.
Any comments? Your opinion is greatly valued! :-)

Lookit! Lookit!

Anyone remember Sister Emi from the Pauline Bookstore downtown? (oops, sorry...here, I mean)
She was here last year autumn until last January.

Stormy Seas

One of my favorite songs by Casting Crowns (and not just because of the piano or violin :-D )
It seems to go well with today’s reading (so that’s my excuse for posting it!)

There’s no avoiding storms in open sea. Saint Therese went through many storms. So did Saint Paul (he was stoned, shipwrecked, and imprisoned!) So what do we do when a storm arrives? Father Jerry gave a great homily today. Keep Jesus as the foundation and center of your life. For any state in life, God must be the in the center. The world has changed over the centuries and has turned a few cartwheels, but God is still here…and that will never change.
