Five Fingers of Prayer

Your thumb is nearest to you..
Pray for those closest to you: mom and dad, brothers and sisters, other family members, friends.

The next finger is the pointing finger.
Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal: pope, teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction.

The next finger is the tallest finger.
Pray for our leaders: president, leaders in business, industry, and administrators. They shape our nation and guide public opinion.

The fourth finger is our ring finger.
This is our weakest finger. It reminds us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. Pray for the sick, dying, hungry and the homeless.

Saint Therese did many marvelous things to make herself cheerful in the convent. She spent several hours praying to God whom she loved very much. She wrote many songs and one of them was a song in honor of St. Francis, which she was very clever at making a tune. Since she enjoyed painting, she painted in the prayer room a picture of the Blessed Sacrament with infant angels spreading bright colored flowers near it. How happy was Therese to be in the convent!
